Prize-winning constructions from corrugated board
Between September 20, 2025 and January 31, 2026 an exhibition went all round the neighboring countries commemorating the 1000th anniversary of the foundation of the Hungarian state. The exhibition presented the outstanding events of our history for the visitors in Hungary and in the neighboring countries. The three meter-high creation, occupying a hundred square meters of space, belongs to everyone: the royal crown rising out from arches of Roman milieu was made from corrugated board. The exhibition site was designed by Istvn Tth, Dunapack Ltd.s marketing executive. The main symbol of the Hungarian nation, the Holy Crown has taken a centre stage in the exhibition. For the artistic expression of the foundation of the Hungarian state Dunapack Ltd. has received the award of the Ministry of National Cultural Heritage, among fifteen participants. Apart from this construction, 24 tableaus presented the historic events and periods of Hungarian history. The major sponsor of the exhibition was Dunapack Ltd. and it was organized by the World Federation of Hungarians. By December 2000, in the cities of Bratislava, Zvolen, Kosice, Dunajska Streda, Komarno, Berehove, Uzhgorod, Osijek and Murska Sobota eighty thousand people have visited this very popular exhibition, increasing awareness also among people of Hungarian origin. Do the right thing and talk about it!
Since the foundation of Dunapack, we have been following a sponsorship philosophy identifying national values, new issues worthy of our support underlying our commitment to the environment. We have been choosing from numerous opportunities, but didnt really find a suitable program. So we decided to come up with something new.
Some time ago a chance meeting came along with one of the founding members of the Federation of Hungarian Nature Photographers (naturArt), founded in 1990. The federation was struggling to get started and was looking for sponsors. After occasional contacts for two years, we organized an event called the " Competition for the Nature Photographer of the Year " in 1993. We christened the competition "The wonderful world of birds", as the Hungarian Institute of Bird Study was established 100 years ago in 1993. Also the Ministry of Environmental Protection joined our action. From the very beginning the competition yielded a huge success and recognition. The past eight years have proved that we made a right decision. Our dedicated work has borne fruit. Today taking part in the competition and winning a prize as the "Nature Photographer of the Year" is a matter of great prestige. The media has helped to promote it to a prestigious event in Hungarys autumn calendar.
Today everyone is aware that the exhibition is opened and prizes are awarded at an exclusive venue of the Buda Castle, the headquarters of the Hungarian Cultural Foundation coinciding with the annual Exhibition of Packaging Materials. Prizes are regularly handed over by ministers and state secretaries. The main prize, the bronze bird statue, has now been handed over eight times by the manager of Dunapack Ltd., who invites the artists for a friendly conversation during a reception.
The pictures exhibited go off on a national tour until the following years competition. We are happy to see that each year a hundred thousand people regularly visit the exhibition. The wall calendar, in which pictures are selected from the prize-winning photos, serves as a summary of the exhibition and is printed in four thousand copies each year and sent off to our customers and partners.
Recharging batteries and relaxing: many of our colleagues take part regularly in the International Tisza Tour since 1985. We have got to know and love this unspoiled and wonderful region. We believe these and similar protected areas all over the world are our planets "Ecological Border Castles". As defenders of these fortresses we do this work not only for ourselves, and not just to preserve the natural heritage for future generations, but also we do it for you.
FOR NATURE AND FOR PEOPLE.
We see it as our duty to support the environmental education and the protection of the river Tisza a yet unspoiled area. To this end we set up the UPPER-TISZA FOUNDATION in 1992. In the last ten years the foundation can look back on several successful programs. Further information is available on the following Internet address http://www.zpok.hu/
