External communication, social relationships
Openness, maintaining a permanent contact and exchanging information with all the relevant stakeholders of our company is an important element of the philosophy of Dunapack Ltd.
Important external contacts:
The company participates in the work of several industrial federations, such as the National Federation of Packaging and Material Handling (CSAOSZ), the Federation of Hungarian Printers, the Association of Employers and Manufacturers and the Society of Multinational Companies in Hungary.
In these federations environmental protection committees operate, in which our experts are members at director level.
Within the framework of these committees our company plays an active role in matters such as formulating the product charge in the environmental protection law currently in force, and the waste management law, which is awaiting approval.
The National Council for Environmental Protection is governmental advisory body, in compliance with the provisions of the environmental protection law. This council makes its opinion known and helps to formulate all the laws and decrees related to environmental protection. The environmental expert of Dunapack Ltd. is active in this body, having been elected as a member for 6 years.
Dunapack Ltd. considers it important to keep a track of new technological developments worldwide and to implement the latest practices. This work is supported by our interaction with the Association of Environment-Conscious Management (KVET) and the Hungarian Center for Cleaner Production.
We have participated in numerous trade conferences, often as speakers. In the series of events a round table conference on Cleaner Production in Europe was organized in 1999 by the Hungarian Center for Cleaner Production. We were among the first in Hungary to sign the "International Declaration for Cleaner Production", which was of great significance. In this context we undertook to pay special attention to the following tasks:
- To convince our owners of the importance of cleaner production
- To increase environmental awareness and to develop training
- To introduce preventative methods
- To create new environmentally friendly solutions through research and development
- To share our experiences with other market players
- To organize campaigns aimed at effective introduction of cleaner production.
Dunapack Ltd. is represented at director level at the National Social Forum established in November 1999 by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA), the National Environmental Protection Council and the National Federation of Protectors of Nature. This Forum provided the environmental organizations, local councils, trade unions and company representatives the opportunity to discuss the tasks relating accession to the European Union. As a result of this interaction a proposition was formulated for the government.
Our company was a co-founder of the foundation called "Industry for the Environment" set up in 1991, which evaluates and rewards industrial enterprises and organizations in Hungary for their achievements in environmental protection.
