Fruits and vegetables Our transportation and display boxes for the fruit and vegetable trade…-
- have high resistance to moisture,
- handling,
- and refrigerated storage,
- are suitable for transport in a cold chain,
- may be produced with multi-colour printing and graphics of high aesthetic standard,
- are environmentally friendly and hygienic,
- have food industry certification,
- are economical to use (lighter than wood or plastic crates, and may be stored flat until use),
- have dimensions conforming to EUR pallets (1200x800 mm),
- May be glued together by manual folding or mobile machine.
By agreement, we can provide assistance for installation of machines.
- For stone fruit, we offer 6 kg divisions (figure 1)
- We have also developed a corrugated board division of the right dimensions and quality for one of the most sensitive vegetables, asparagus (figure 2).
- The largest and heaviest fruit grown in Hungary, the watermelon, can be transported securely inland and for export in our special melon box, which contains 4-6 melons (figure 3/a), and in melon containers. We also produce high-strength containers for 180 and 400 kg of melons. These also provide a display function in shops.(figure 3/b)
- We produce – to order – transport crates for mushrooms and berries (figure 4).
- For packaging of green capsicums, we produce corrugated board crates in large production runs, in internationally-accepted sizes corresponding to net weights of 3 and 5 kg (figure 5).
For bulk capsicums and other moist-surface fruit and vegetables stored and transported under refrigerated conditions, we have developed a packaging box of new composition, assembled by machine (figure 7).
It is important that the inner surface of the box be water resistant, because the surface of the capsicum may be moist and when the cold chain is broken, moisture may condense on the surface and form drops on the inner surface of the box.

Sandwich paper basically consists of a polyethylene layer between two paper plies, forming a water resistant liner. However, since there is paper on both sides of the polyethylene sheet, corrugated board made with such liners can be converted and glued in the same way as products made with any “ordinary” liner. (Sandwich paper is purchased base paper, not made by Dunapack.)
This box is made to transport fruit and vegetables, but packaging with such liners is suitable for transporting any product whose transport involves the occurrence of moisture or cold-store conditions (e.g. meat and poultry products, transport between cold store and shops, etc.).
