Nyíregyháza - If you have a sufficiently vivid imagination to picture all the things that can be wrapped in 120 million square metres of paper, you will have a general idea how much paper Dunapack Zrt.´s plant in Nyíregyháza is capable of producing, after the completion of the prospective project. After receiving depressing news of economic standstill and rationalizations occurring at various businesses, it is a nice change to learn that a nearly one-billion-forint project was completed at the beginning of this year at the county seat.
If you have a sufficiently vivid imagination to picture all the things that can be wrapped in 120 million square metres of paper, you will have a general idea how much paper Dunapack Zrt.´s plant in Nyíregyháza is capable of producing.
The production of corrugated paper boxes is divided into two phases. The first phase involves the production of the actual corrugated board used for making boxes in the second phase. ˝The development concerned the first phase, since it was here that we were faced with the problem of limited capacity,˝ said Sándor Sárdi CEO, pointing out what previously has been a weak spot for production.
Production lines disassembled in December were transferred to the company’s plant in Bulgaria, and a novel, cutting-edge technology was introduced at the Nyíregyháza plant.
Less downtime
As a result of the 1-billion-forint investment, production has accelerated, the number of disruptions and temporary downtimes in production decreased, and the company has been able to meet seasonal demand much more efficiently.
Last, but not least, capacity has grown by 25%, representing a great leap for the plant in Nyíregyháza with an annual output of 120 million square meters of corrugated board. The Nyíregyháza corrugated board plant currently employs a workforce of some 200 people; however, the expected growth in capacity may facilitate a more substantial increase in staff.
