It was a chance meeting that brought Dunapack Ltd. into contact with the Hungarian Nature Photographers’ Association, founded in 1990. The Association was seeking a reliable, seriously-minded sponsor for the first stages of its competition. In 1993, they jointly founded the “Nature Photographer of the Year” competition. The initiative was an enormous success from the outset, attracting widespread recognition.
The subsequent ten years have proved the wisdom of our decision. Entry to the “Nature Photographer of the Year” competition and winning a prize now carry considerable prestige. The media have raised the event to a prominent place in the Hungarian autumn programme. The prize is regularly awarded by such figures as government ministers and secretaries of state. The first prize – a bronze bird statuette – has now been awarded ten times by a nominated manager of this company, the photographers always being invited to a warm and informal reception after the ceremony.
Every year, as an accompaniment to the exhibition, a handsome, top-quality calendar is produced featuring prize-winning photographs. Four thousand copies are printed. This year’s exhibition is open between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. until 31 January 2003.
