Is donation CSR?
In connection with the results Dr. Péter Szeles, president of MPRSZ said: ˝Environmental, social and economic issues nowadays have proved that there is need for a new way of corporate behaviour, new approaches in management and a reconsideration of the relationship of companies and environment. Responsibility of companies for conditions of life and social issues is increasing. Since CSR, operation of companies in a socially and environmentally responsible manner is by far not common it is necessary to raise awareness, show positive and forward-looking examples, teach and train, shape collective opinion, and implement proactive and increasingly intensive communication. This is why we initiated to explore best practices as implemented. We believe that good examples have the power to provide guidance for company leaders, owners and corporate employees towards a better future.˝
Zsófia Lakatos, head of the MPRSZ CSR section and in charge of the CSR Best Practice award added: ˝Fortunately, as also the number of the submitted tenders shows, responsible corporate behaviour is becoming increasingly significant in Hungary.˝ At the same time, the danger of identifying non-CSR campaigns such as sponsorship with CSR has become quite apparent, and also, companies easily confuse donation for socially responsible operation. The importance of this publication lies in the fact that it demonstrates best practices and proves that CSR is a comprehensive management approach rather than a marketing tool. On this instance, I would like to thank the members of the selection board for the time and efforts they invested in reading through hundreds of pages and evaluating the tenders.˝
The ˝CSR Best Practice 2006˝ publication will now be edited and is scheduled to be issued this autumn.
