This approach motivates the management of Dunapack Rt. in developing its environmental policy. Activities carried out in the field of environmental protection in 2000 can be categorised into three major subject areas. Each one is considered a continual task in the company´s operations.
The first category is development of an Integrated Management System, acquiring certification and continual improvement of the system.
The second major subject is recycling of goods produced by the company, which have been used as packaging materials; i.e. the collection and utilisation of waste paper for paper and packaging material production. Hungary´s natural resources (small area of forestation and within this a small share of coniferous forests), are not capable of providing enough wood fibre to meet demand even in the long run. Economics, manufacturing experience and environmental considerations make waste paper recycling an obvious solution for the country.
The third central activity of our company is also motivated by both economic and environmental considerations. Manufacturing processes and technologies are being developed in such a way as to reduce the environmental burden caused to the lowest possible level and only to make use of our natural resources as little as necessary. In order to achieve this, we are reducing specific water usage of production and the burden on natural waters, as well as cutting back our energy consumption by use of modern technology.
These issues are discussed in detail in the environmental report for 2000, about which we would appreciate your opinions and comments.
