Environmental report 1999.

Dear Reader,

You are holding a copy-of the Environmental Report of DUNAPACK Ltd. for the year 1999, which has been issued to inform our partners and the public about our company´s environmental activities, its achievements and plans for the future.

With the help of this report we would like to introduce the relationship between our company and the environment  in a wider perspective: beyond the environmental effects directly related to our activities. Beside its basic function (manufacturing of packaging materials) DUNAPACK Ltd. is one of the largest environmental service providers in Hungary. Our packaging paper plant processes more than 85% of packaging waste paper collected in Hungary, a total of almost 220,000 tons per year.

We produce environmentally friendly packaging materials from waste paper according to the strictest quality demands, putting a special emphasis on the potential full recycling capability of our products. In order to close the packaging paper cycle, we established a separate affiliated company for the collection of waste paper, which returns the waste originating from our products (and naturally from other paper-based packaging materials on the market in Hungary) to our company in increasingly larger amounts each year.

With the development of this sophisticated and complex activity we follow two underlying objectives:

• We wish to offer a complex service to our partners that comprises of the planning and production of cost-efficient and environmentally friendly packaging most suitable for the requested packaging function, includes services related to the product and provides expert, environmentally friendly handling of waste originating from our packaging materials;
