Dunapack Zrt.’s investment activities in 2010 were moderate. Mainly environmental and production rationalisation projects were completed, amounting to a value of HUF 250 million. Among investments, the new labelling machine (HUF 146 million) installed in Nyíregyháza deserves a mention, as it enables us to satisfy new market demand.
As opposed to the budgeted HUF 650 million, actual spending on stabilising investments was HUF 250 million.
Investment activities were characterised by organisational restructuring in 2010. Several smaller companies and sheet converting plants (Rimapack Kft., Miniker Kft., Halas Irodaszer Kft., Dunapack Közmű Kft.) were sold. At the Papíripari Kutatóintézet Kft. [Paper Research Institute Ltd.], in which our company holds an interest, a liquidation procedure was launched and concluded at the beginning of 2011.
Beyond the existing ISO 9001 certificate, the yearly renewal audit of both the ISO 14001 environmental management and the OHSAS 18001 occupational health and safety systems encompassing all activities of Dunapack Zrt. at all sites in Hungary, was completed successfully in 2009. The surveillance audit in 2010 was also carried out successfully. On the basis of this, the certification of the integrated management system is valid until July 2012.
At the Csepel site of the company, sanitary sewage water and pre-treated technological waste water, previously flowing into the stream-channel of the Danube, is now connected to the public canal system. Thereby the waste-decreasing programme defined in the resolution of the Közép-Duna-völgyi Környezetvédelmi Természetvédelmi és Vízügyi Felügyelőség [Middle Danube Valley Inspectorate for Environmental Protection, Nature Conservation and Water Management] was completed. After the connection of waste water to the public canal system rain-water is going flow to the stream-channel of the Danube River from the plant. In 2009, the Közép-Duna-völgyi Környezetvédelmi Természetvédelmi és Vízügyi Felügyelőség modified its requirements from the distant past regarding the purification of soil water after the removal of soil contamination at the Csepel site. The inspectorate ordered the operation of a simplified monitoring system. Results of the simplified monitoring system in 2010 rendered it unnecessary to re-launch the soil water purification system. Emission of air polluting point sources operating on the sites of Dunapack Zrt. is below the emission limit. The quality of outgoing waste water did not meet the relevant requirements on the Csepel site. Therefore a waste water penalty will have to be paid. The other sites, Dunaújváros and Nyíregyháza, do not have to pay any penalty for their waste water emission in 2010. Waste is handled on the sites of Dunapack Zrt. according to the governing legislation.
Research and development activity involved product, and to a lesser extent, technological development projects. In 2010 HUF 61.5 million was spent on R&D.
