Environmental Protection

Following amendments to Act LVI of 1995 on environmental surcharge in general and on environmental surcharge on specific products, taking effect as of 1 January 2005, a separate, special range of products within packaging materials has been created, namely commercial packaging. While packaging materials are subject to environmental surcharge, there are specific rules that apply to commercial packaging beyond the environmental surcharge, from this time on.

The publication commissioned by EAN Magyarország Kht. and the Ministries of Economy and Transportation aims at helping companies meet, in accordance with the statutory regulations, their obligations that are related to packaging, and more specifically, commercial packaging which is subject to environmental surcharge, by providing a uniform interpretation of the environmental surcharge regulations and their application in everyday business life.
